Abstract:
Modern civilization has encountered a gap between technological capabilities and the ethical foundations of their application, which makes an appeal to Russian cosmism (N.F. Fedorov, V.S. Solovyov, V.I. Vernadsky) relevant as an intellectual tradition that views humans as active agents of evolution. Drawing on foundational studies of the tradition of Russian cosmism by S.G. Semenova, A.G. Gacheva, and M.V. Maksimov, as well as on recent advances in neurophysiology and evolutionary biology, this article argues for the possibility of deliberately developing a sense of kinship and brotherhood, thereby realizing the active evolutionary approach immanent to Russian cosmism. The article proposes an evolutionary anthropological model: from Homo economicus through Homo Empathicus to Homo Resuscitans. The concept of Homo Empathicus receives ontological grounding in Fedorov's idea of kinship and Solovyov's doctrine of all-unity – a philosophical position that finds empirical support in contemporary neuroscience, which increasingly documents the fundamental capacity to develop empathy as a psychological and social skill. The article concludes that the intentional development of empathy is a necessary condition for the realization of the Russian cosmist project.
