Abstract: 

The article is devoted to the analysis of the relationship between the prince V.F. Odoevsky and the Slavophiles in the 1850–1860s. The points of ideological rejection and conjugation between them are determined. The points of rejection include V.F. Odoevsky's characteristic defense of the human personality, apology for the reforms of Peter I and Alexander II, greeting Western enlightenment, historical views of the Slavophiles, their admiration for the people, and the theory of “society”. The points of conjugation include V.F. Odoevsky's solidarity with representatives of the Slavophiles on a number of issues: the defense of the Russian community, the zemstvo and Ostsee issues, the defense of the Orthodox Church and the denunciation of Jesuitry, the Christian understanding of the essence of freedom, and apoliticality in assessing ideological approaches. All this allows us to correct the point of view of modern researchers who consider the relationship between Odoevsky and the Slavophiles through the prism of unconditional antagonism.
