Сriteria of selection

The Higher Attestation Commission (VAK) in its decision of March 7, 2008 introduced a system of requirements (criteria) of selection to the list of publications recommended for publication of theses results of candidates for doctoral or candidate degrees (VAK list). According to these requirements the journal must be included in the Russian Science Citation Index. It is natural that the journal inclusion in the VAK list makes it more popular with scientific degree candidates. However, maintaining such a high status requires permanent development and perfection from article authors and editorial board. In fact, the VAK list determines, beside a number of necessary requirements, one more sufficient requirement: « Inclusion of current issues of the journal or its translations into a foreign language in one of the citing systems: Web of Science, Scopus, Web of Knowledge, Astrophysics, PubMed, Mathematics, Chemical Abstracts, Springer, Agris». Inclusion into the international citation index means integration of information about the journal and the organization not into the national information infrastructure but also the international one and, therefore, an opportunity of global subject search and positioning of scientific researches for the authors and for the journal as a whole. Taking this into account, the journal editorial board has started working toward the inclusion of the journal into the biggest citing system SCOPUS.

Content Selection and Advisory Board (CSAB) in SCOPUS brings requirements for the structure of the article in the journal and for some special elements of this structure (authors’ names, organizations’ names and articles’ titles, abstract format, key words list and reference list).

CSAB suggests the following structure of articles arrangement in the journal:

  • Block 1 – in Russian: article’s name; author(s); authors’ addresses (full legal name of the organization, organization’s address, e-mail address of the author(s)); author’s abstract; key words.
  • Block 2 – transliteration and English translation of Block 1 in the same sequence: article’s name – in English; authors – in Latin letters (transliteration); name of the organization, organization’s address, author’s abstract; key words – in English.
  • Block 3 – full text of the article in source language (Russian), structured in accordance with the journal requirements.
  • Block 4 – list of references in Russian (name “Reference list”).
  • Block 5 – list of references in Latin letters (name References); references must be structured in accordance with the above-mentioned requirements.

If the list of references includes only publications in English, Block 5 can be omitted.
